What’s new in CAD 2.0.

CAD has built retail software since 1992. CAD 2.0 is our newest till. It runs on the same store database CAD stores already use, and new work reaches stores every few weeks. This is what changed, month by month.

    • Offline mode, fault-tested

Scans are never lost, a sale cut off halfway is finished or undone, and queued sales post exactly once when the server is back. Account, lay-by and voucher sales are refused clearly while the server is away.

    • The first Performance Lab run

Failure and load tests on the production build, from a pulled network cable to 100 tills selling at once, with the method and every result published.

    • Account customers

Payments on account at the till, the month-end run, statements and prices for individual account customers.

    • Customer tiers, birthdays and SMS

Loyalty tiers, birthday messages, SMS to customers, staff alerts and one-time PINs.

    • Faster item search

Results appear as you type, by word, item code or barcode.

    • Store setup on one screen

Every store setting grouped by job and explained, with presets for common ways of trading.

    • More at the till

Several gift vouchers in one sale, and the customer screen shows what the shopper saved today.

    • Weighing scales

Scales connect straight to the till, and weighed items get the same promotion and loyalty pricing as everything else.

    • A new Mix and Match engine

Multi-buys, bundles and combos run on a new engine, and the schemes are kept on the till so they work offline.

    • Selling through a busy database

When a report or a backup locks a table, the till keeps selling and the sale lands once the lock is released.

    • Fingerprint readers

ZKTeco readers alongside DigitalPersona, with existing staff fingerprints carried over.

    • Slip layouts from the store server

Custom invoice and slip layouts are sent to every till from the store server.

    • Payments and value-added services

Cashback on every card tender, voucher PIN slips for airtime, and a supplier key test in Setup.

    • Approved updates

A till installs a software update only once a senior supervisor approves it.

    • Cash-up

Each cashier’s cash and card counted and balanced, with adjustments, and the cash-up sealed once it balances.

    • A4 invoices

Full-page A4 invoices alongside thermal till slips.

We cut the network, lock the database and run many tills at once, then check every sale against the database. The method and every result are published.
